Funeral services for Alonza Garrette Chason, Jr., 76, of Pelham will be held Friday, May 20, 2016 at 3:00PM at Willis-Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home. Brother Jimmy Smith and Fred Johnson will officiate and interment will follow the service at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Born November 15, 1939 in Mitchell County he was the son of the late Alonza Garrette Chason, Sr. and Eva Pearl  Smith Chason and Mamie Oates Chason. Mr. Chason passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at his residence. He was married June 23, 1963 to his wife of 52 years Jackie Jones Chason who survives. He was a farmer with his brother over 50 years growing peanuts, cotton, oats and cattle at Chason Brothers Farms. Pallbearers will be Blake Hancock, Ben Summerlin, Skipper Chason, Craig Brooks, Bill Collins, John Stallings, Idus Williams and Jason Vinson. He was a member of Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Betsy Sheffield (Chris) of Orlando; granddaughters, Christen "CJ" Sheffield and Caitlin Sheffield of Orlando; and a brother, Jerome Chason (Peggy) of Pelham and Many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Pauline Palmer, Mary Davis, Louise Taylor and Doris Chesnutt. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 6:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.
