Carol Edward Whigham

March 20, 1932 — July 14, 2023

Pelham

Carol Whigham Of Atlanta, formerly of Pelham, Georgia transitioned peaceful to his next journey home! 91 and was one gentle giant and tough ole geezer. In his early days he worked at the stockyards herding and working with cattle and then went to Manage Mr. Crows Gas Filing station in Camilla, Ga. He then went off to join the 101st Infantry of the US Army and served 6 years during the Korean War. He married Lila Kelly Whigham in 1955. Being a farmer's son, he was quick to tear machinery apart and put it back together, a family tradition in the Whigham Family. He actually made his money selling and delivering LP gas for Farmers Gas back in the tobacco and home heating days. Back in the sixties tobacco was the number one commodity on the market and dad cut his price by 3 cent a gallon and grew that business in the tri county area. Everyone knew dad and on some Thursday afternoons Wendell Adams would ride with him and meet and greet and grew his banking business at Pelham Banking Company. Then as the tobacco commodities started to fall he went to work with the City of Pelham until he retired in the mid eighties. His Pride and joy besides his family was the City of Pelham. One of a very few regrets is that while living in Atlanta he and Miss Elsie Hand who lives in Alpharetta never got to visit! They worked well together back in the day. He loved everyone and never met a stranger. Until we meet again! He was preceded in death by R.W. Whigham, father, Eva Miller Whigham, mother, brothers Carson, Gordon, John Wayne, and baby brother, a sister Verda Whigham, nephew William Donald Whigham, wife Lila Kelly Whigham. He is survived by two sons Carol Richard Whigham (Betty) of Kentucky, Kelly Whigham of Atlanta, and one daughter Cindy Sullivan (Keith) of Waynesboro, grandson, Phillip Whigham (Jamie) of Pelham, granddaughters, Amanda Catherine Whigham of Gainesville, Ga, Ann Sullivan Dossey (Joe) of Grovetown, Ga, Jennifer Rose Whigham, 4 great grandsons PJ Whigham and Maston Whigham of Pelham, Ga, Levi and Liam Dossey of Grovetown, Ga., nephews Charles "Chuck" Whigham of Grovetown, Ga, Gordon "Spooky" Whigham, Matthew and Mark Whigham of Roswell, niece Lisa Lawson Whigham and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Belli Whigham of Atlanta. Donations may be made to whomever you feel the need for. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 11:00AM at Pinecrest Memory Gardens with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
