Curtis Calvary Warren, 82, Pelham, Georgia passed away at his home on Monday, April 28, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Warren was born December 31, 1931 at home in Thomas County to the late Preston Otto and the late Lillie Alligood Warren. He married Frances Marie Pollock on July 3, 1952 at First Baptist Church of Pelham. Mr. Warren enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at the age of 19. He retired after 20 years of service, February 1971, with the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was given many distinguished awards during his military career. He felt one of the greatest accomplishments was being called as a young man to serve his country. During his enlistment he was stationed in many places around the country and in the world. He, his wife, and his children lived in such locations as Vermont, South Carolina, Utah, California, Texas, Kansas, Japan and Okinawa. He was also deployed in other places such as Korea, Brazil, and Alaska. After retirement from the service, he attended and graduated Thomas University with an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology and was employed several years as Civil Service as the Turner Marine Corp Base in Albany. Outside of his military service, Mr. Warren always enjoyed playing guitar, whether in an organized country band or just "picking and grinning" with family and friends. In addition to enjoying music, he and his wife were also instrumental in establishing the Pelham Country Jamboree which continues for the community's enjoyment. He also enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and working on cars. Mr. Warren is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Frances, of 60 years. He is also survived by seven children. Marion Harper and husband, Chip, of Hopeful, Daryl Warren and wife, Gerald, of Pelham, Farrell Warren and wife, Bonnie, of Bainbridge, Richard Warren and wife, Susan, of Havana, Florida, Jeannie Bush, of Pelham, Gary Warren, of Cashiers, North Carolina, and Eddie Warren, of Pelham. He is survived by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceded Mr. Warren in death were his parents, his brother, Preston Otto Warren, and three sisters, Vivian Porter, Lynette Cox, and Charlotte Cox. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Grove. Services will be conducted by Reverend Doug Hall, assisted by Reverend Les Pollock. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Eric Harper, David Warren, Chris Warren, Bradley Warren, Brian Bush, and Jarrett Warren. Visitation will be at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. Mr. Warren will be laid to rest at the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date with full military honors.
