Edith Corinne Hamrick Dann, 92, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 26, 2013 surrounded by her family. Born on June 8, 1921 to the late Burrell Jones "B.J." and Ivie Corinne Ward Hamrick, she was raised in Monticello, FL and went to Tallahassee, FL to attend Florida State College for Women. She married the love of her life, Thomas Bernard Dann on February 1, 1943. She taught at the FSU Nursery School before completing her degree in Education at Florida State University. She went on to become an elementary teacher and later the principal of Candle of Hope School, now Gretchen Everhart School. She retired as the head of testing within the guidance department at Lively Vocational Technical School in 1983. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was involved with and volunteered in many service organizations. She loved children and especially enjoyed sharing her love of animals and nature with them. She had a green thumb which was evident in her flower and vegetable gardens. Edith is survived by her daughter Susanne Baham, granddaughter Catherine Ann Baham, great grandson Alexander Thomas Garcia, all of Tallahassee, FL, sister Ivie Pearl Stephens of Monticello, FL, numerous nieces and nephews and her caring and compassionate caregiver, Jean Barton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Bernard Dann, her parents Burrell Jones "B. J." and Ivie Corinne Ward Hamrick, her brother David James "D.J." Hamrick and her sister Burlene Finney. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted graveside on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Tallahassee Memory Gardens with Rev. Michael Henderson officiating. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Judes Hospital for Children or to the charity of your choice.
