India Godwin Adams

Sep 1, 1949 — Jul 1, 2026

Pelham, GA

India Godwin Adams of Pelham passed away July 01, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, determination, and devotion to her family and the land she cherished. She is survived by her brother, John D. Godwin (Sarah); her sister, Frankie Creech (Gary Phelps), and countless family members and friends who loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glynn Harvey. India dedicated her life to preserving and conserving her family's land on Godwin Hill, ensuring it would survive for future generations. She was a strong, independent woman who forged her own path, working successfully in fields traditionally dominated by men. She managed her farm while also working for Mixon Seed Service. India spent her life farming. At different times in her life she raised hogs, cattle and along with her husband, Glynn, raised quail. Farming can be a tough life, but India was resilient, enduring through the ups and downs that came with being a farmer. Anyone who knew India knew she was truly one of a kind. She was a character, with a quick wit and sharp sense of humor. She was a straight shooter who never left anyone guessing how she felt. She believed in honesty and spoke her mind without hesitation. To those who didn't know her well, India could seem tough, even intimidating. But beneath that strong exterior was a generous and deeply caring heart. She was always looking after others and rarely did anyone ever even know who all she was helping. There are very few that knew her well that weren’t on the receiving end of her help at some point in their lives. Those who loved India will remember her remarkable strength, unwavering determination, and love of her family and farm. She lived with grit, integrity, and humor. India will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her legacy will live in in indelible mark she left on her family and friends.
