James Emmett Davis, Sr.

Graveside funeral services for James Emmett Davis, Sr., 87, of Cotton will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 at 2:00PM at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Rev. Arnold Buckner will officiate. Born October 12, 1933 in Poulk County, Fl he was the son of the late James Irvin and Minnie Drew Locke Davis. Mr. Davis passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at his residence. He was married to Mildred Fowler Davis who preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Cotton Assembly Church. Survivors include his daughter, Wanda Sowell (Ralph) of Meigs; grandchildren, Amanda Peters of Meigs; Lexie Davis of Pelham; James Emmett Davis, III (Jamie) of Valdosta;  daughter-in-law Becky Collins Davis Lawrence; two great grandchildren, Sophia and Serenity Peters of Meigs; brothers, Gene Davis, Russell Davis ( Jeanee), Phillip Morey (Pam), sisters, Lafaie Bryant, Thelma Pettyjohn and Viria Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, James Emmett Davis, Jr. and brothers, Ralph Davis, Frank Davis  and sister, Sobrinnia Holt.
