James Merrill Palmer

James Merrill Palmer, 92, of Pelham, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Baptist Church. Rev. David Pickering and Rev. Marvin Snipes will officiate.  Pallbearers will be JD Palmer, Justin Palmer, Jesse Palmer, JJ Palmer, Michael Pickering and Bud Palmer.  Born July 10,1931 in Pelham, he was the son of the late Johnny Daniel and Alice Mae Owens Palmer.  He served in the United State Air Force and worked as a rural route mail carrier for the US Postal Service for forty-two years.  He is survived by his sons, James Ronald Palmer and Merrill Donald Palmer (Karen) and a daughter, Melanie Palmer Pickering (David), numerous grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley Jane Willis Palmer, and a granddaughter, Katrina Lynn Palmer.  The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-11:00AM, one hour before the service.  A private burial will be held at a later date.  Willis Jamerson Braswell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
