Michael Wayne Hendley

Michael Wayne Hendley, 73, of Hopeful, GA, passed away of June 12, 2026 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Willis Jamerson Braswell Funeral Home.  Rev. Nathan Fowler will officiate with interment to follow at Union Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Tommy Burford, Jr., Derrick Hendley, Landon Hendley, Matthew Sellers, and Jamie Sellers.  He was born July 20, 1952, at Mitchell County Hospital to the late Jesse James Hendley and Mildred Williams Hendley Faircloth.  Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gail Hendley Vines.  Michael was a social person who never met a stranger.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved being around others.  He was a heavy equipment operator for Mitchell County.  He leaves behind his sons, Andrew Hendley (Angela) of Leesburg, GA, and Michael Scott Handley, Sr. (Rebecca) of Charlotte, NC and his grandchildren, Alexis Denino of Atlanta, GA, Jacob Hendley of Charlotte, NC, Michael Scott Hendley, Jr. of TN, and Megan Hendley.  Michael is also survived by his sisters, Betty Ann Sellers of Pelham, GA, Susan Burford (Tommy) of Branchville, GA, Melondy Godwin (Maston) of Branchville, GA, and Connie Caruso (Gary) of TX, as well as his brother, David Hendley of Branchville, GA.  He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  The family will meet with family and friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union Cemetery Fund, %Rodney Wisham, 6892 GA Hwy 65, Camilla, GA 31730
