Funeral services for Nellie F. Humphries will be held at 4:00PM Wednesday,
February 18, 2015 at Willis-Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Chapel. The Rev.
David Pickering will officiate and interment will be in Pelham City Cemetery.
Nellie F Humphries passed away on February the 15th at Archbold Memorial
Hospital at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by her husband,
Ellis R. Humphries, mother Sallie Breedlove Fudge and four siblings: W.T.
Fudge, Jewel Fudge, Frances F. Ethridge, and W. W. "Nuke" Fudge. She is survived
by her sons, Reuben Dean (Gail) Humphries and Elton Kenneth (Linda)
Humphries of Pelham, grandchildren Darin Humphries of Valdosta, Kevis
(Karen) Humphries of Pelham, Russ (Candace) Humphries and Laurie H (Beau)
Clark of Thomasville and nine great-grandchildren. The youngest of five
children, she will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
She was born October 7, 1920 in Sale City, GA before moving to Pebble City,
then on to Pelham with her family by the age of ten. After losing her
husband, "Ms. Nellie" helped feed a generation of kids at Pelham Elementary
School before retiring in 1987. She was a loving mother and grandmother,
always ready to play with her "babies" or even better, feed them. In her
later years, she enjoyed visiting with her neighbors on the porch, watching
the Atlanta Braves and being w her family. The family will receive friends
one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may sign the
