Funeral services for RJ Simpson (Bob), Jr., 71, of Pelham will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 3:00PM at Willis-Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home. Rev. Frederick Davis will officiate. The wake will be held Friday, May 1, 2026 from 5:00-6:00PM. Willis-Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home.
R. J. Simpson, Jr. AKA "Bob" was the son of the late Mr. R. J. Simpson, Sr. and Glayds Mayo Simpson. He was born on June 20, 1954 in Mitchell County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three brothers, Sammy Franklin Simpson, Donnell Simpson, Sr., and Charles Simpson.
He grew up in Mitchell County, Georgia, attending the Mitchell County Training School. After graduating from High School, Bob helped with the family business "The Simpson Drive Inn". Bob also had his own band where he played the piano, keyboard and the base guitar. Bob found the love of his life and was United in Holy Matrimony to Mattie Mae Simpson, who also preceded him in death.
R. J. was known to most as "Bob". Later on in life Bob started working at a convenience store where he loved to talk and make people laugh with greetings "I'm tolerable Ware".
At an early age Bob confessed Christ and joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he played the piano for the church choir.
Bob departed this life peacefully on Tuesday morning April 21, 2026 at his home with those whom he loved by his side. He leaves to cherish his memories four daughters, Blanche Guyton, Saretha Simpson of Camilla, GA. Trakeena Eason and Jada Simpson of Pelham, GA. Seven grandchildren, Kendarian Guyton, Antowon Johnson, Jr., Dareen Simpson, Shambreka Simpson, Harmoni Eason, Coenesis Laster and Zaharah Saxon, five brothers, Kirven Mayo, Sr. (Willie Pearl), Andrew Simpson (Annie Ree), all from Pelham, GA, Modest Simpson of Atlanta, GA., Verdell Simpson and Kenneth Simpson (Angie) all from Youngstown, Ohio, two aunts, Mary Lawrence of Maryland and Viola Hobbs of North Carolina, special cousin Niccey, and two best friends, Johnie Robinson and Kenneth Robinson.
