Sam Miller

Jul 22, 1950 — May 21, 2026

Graveside funeral services Samuel A. Miller will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 11:00AM at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Samuel A. Miller III passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a life that was deeply rooted in service, agriculture, education, and community. To those who knew him best, he was steady, intelligent, hardworking, and endlessly capable — the kind of man people trusted to figure things out, fix what was broken, and help others without needing recognition for it. Sam dedicated much of his life to agriculture and agricultural education in South Georgia. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Agriculture, and later attended the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with a specialization in Agricultural Mechanization. Throughout his career, he poured his knowledge and energy into helping others learn and succeed. He helped establish the Agricultural Technology Program for John Deere and taught for many years at the technical college in Thomasville, where he trained generations of technicians. He also worked with the Case New Holland corporate office, training both technicians and instructors across the industry. Teaching came naturally to him because he genuinely believed knowledge was meant to be shared. His commitment to agriculture and community leadership extended far beyond the classroom. Sam served as President of the Mitchell County Farm Bureau and helped establish Mitchell County Young Farmers, later serving on the National Committee. He was also a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Pelham, where he served as President and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. But for all of his accomplishments, family remained at the center of who he was. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam A. Miller and Dorothy Mock Miller, and his brother-in-law, Lionel Law. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Miller; his children, Cindy Miller, Sam A. Miller IV, and Lauren Miller; his siblings, Jane Law and Mitch Miller; and six grandchildren who carry forward pieces of his humor, wisdom, strength, and spirit. His absence will be deeply felt by those who loved him, worked beside him, learned from him, and shared life with him over the years. The work of his hands and the impact of his life will continue on in ways both seen and unseen throughout the community he cared for so deeply.
