Funeral services for William (Bill) Crockett Twitty, III, 93, of Lawrenceville, formerly of Pelham, will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Hand Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Don West will officiate and interment will be in the Pelham City Cemetery. Mr. Twitty passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett. Born November 6, 1922 in Pelham, he was the son of the late William Crockett Twitty, Jr. and Bess Whatley Twitty. Mr. Twitty was a graduate of the University of Georgia. He was the former owner of State Farm Insurance in Pelham. He served in the United States Army during WWII and received the Purple Heart after being wounded during the invasion of Italy in 1944 and also received the Bronze Star. He also served as Clerk of the Session of the Pelham Presbyterian Church for 40 years. He was a recipient of the Mitchell County Liberty Bell Award. Mr. Twitty was a Pelham City School Board member for 22 years. He was an avid golfer and loved to watch Georgia Bulldog football and the Atlanta Braves. He was a member of the American Legion and Pelham Lions Club. He was married
to Jacquelyn Clements Twitty, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Ellen Loving (Lee) of Lawrenceville; his son, Jim Twitty (Terri) of Broadlands, VA; his grandchildren, Caroline Loving, Amy Loving of Atlanta and Lauren Twitty of Broadlands, VA, Steven Arrick of Gurnee, IL; and his nephews, Louis Chester and Rusty Chester of Lakeland, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, Mary Twitty Chester.  There will be a reception at Pinecrest Country Club following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 57 East Broad Street Camilla, GA 31730 or the Thornwell Home for Children, 302 South Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325.
