Mr. Milwood Ashley Dekle, age 72 of Swift Street, Toccoa passed away Monday, January 6, 2020 in a single engine plane accident. Mr. Dekle was doing what he loved, flying - only second to his deep affection for singing.  A son of the late Milwood Dekle and Frances Porter Dekle, he was born May 22, 1947 in Pelham, Georgia, having lived in Mitchell and Grady Counties for most of his life and in Toccoa since 1993. He was a 1965 graduate of Cairo High School, Cairo, Georgia. On May 31, 1968, he married Oleta Cone Dekle who preceded him in death. He attended Berry College and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and minor in music in 1969.   He and his wife operated Dekle Appliances in Toccoa for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Toccoa and a longtime member of the Pine Level Baptist Church near Cairo, Georgia. He was a member of the Toccoa Kiwanis Club and participated many years as music director and choir member. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Landis and David Hicks of Cornelia, Georgia; son, Matthew Dekle of Toccoa, Georgia; he was Papa to grandchildren, Lainie and Blake Hoelscher of Temple, Texas, Matthew Hicks, Dawson Hicks, Weslyn Hicks and Jacob Hicks of Cornelia, Georgia; brothers, Dr. Andrew Dekle of Cairo, Georgia, Patrick Dekle of Pelham, Georgia, Michael (Patsy) Dekle of Moultrie, Georgia, Cary Dekle of Bainbridge, Georgia; sister, Jeri (Kevin) Couch of Calhoun, Georgia; sister-in-law, Jennifer Cone of Grady County, Georgia;  a number of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends all of whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly (Junior) Cox from Pine Park, Georgia. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 18, 2020, 1 O’clock p.m. at Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo, Georgia with interment following at Springhill Christian Church, Ochlocknee, Georgia.The Reverend Robert Crapps, and The Reverend Jim Weaver are officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Matthew Dekle, Matthew Hicks, Dawson Hicks, Travis Dekle, Von Cox, and Rocky Wynn. Honorary Pallbearers are David Hicks, Jr and Nathan Walker. The family will briefly receive friends at the Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo, Georgia following the service, before departing for Springhill Christian Church Cemetery for the interment.  Family will also receive friends following the committal service (weather permitting). Friends that can not make the South Georgia service, there will be a Panikhida (memorial service) at Saint Timothy Orthodox Church, January 25, 5:00 pm. 722 Collins Rd, Toccoa, GA 30577. Willis-Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Milwood Ashley Dekle.
