Jessie Brooks (J.B.) Hayes, 97, of Meigs passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 at his residence. Born April 4, 1923 in Meigs he was the son of the late Henry Dennis and Trudie Eliza Ingram Hayes. Due to the ongoing pandemic a private family service will be held. Rev. Dennis Norman will officiate. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church, a retired farmer, worked with Carter-Wilkes Hardware, a bus driver and Food and supply distribution for The Thomas County Board of Education. He also served his country from 1943-1945 in the U.S. Army in WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene (Jean) Haralson Hayes of 73 years on April 29, 2020. Survivors include daughter Mary Hagan (Billy) of Cairo; son Allen Hayes (Judy) of Meigs; grandchildren Chris Hayes (Sandra) of Meigs, Michael Hayes (Bethany) of Thomasville, Lisa Lane (Jason) of Hoschton, GA, Vickie Ezell (Pete) of Cairo; great-grandchildren Tyler Dalton (Chelsey), Makayla Jamieson (Westley), Brynsley Hayes, Dylan Lane, Brady Lane, Ashley Ezell, Kaylee Ezell, Chris Hagan (Emily), Wyatt Kuhns, Morgan Kuhns, Logan Cox (Ashley); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, David Hayes, granddaughter, Amy Hagan, grandson, Kenneth Hagan, Eleven Brothers and sisters, Theron Hayes, Leon Hayes, Floyd Hayes, Robert Hayes, Lewis Hayes, Gertrude Langley, Mary Hancock, Inez Alligood, Jewell Alligood, Irene Collett and Laverne Suber.
